For the last 15 or so years, Shockwave has been run by a small group of friends.  Now that we have gone Non-Profit, we are opening membership up to a public recruitment.

If you are over 21 years old, come join us and help out a good cause, enjoy a great event, and meet new people.

Charity Of Choice

The good cause this year is Operation Results: Start Your Engines program.  Proceeds exceeding our budget are donated to this program to help out both High School students learn a marketable skill, and low income working families receive transportation.  For more information about this program, check out our "About Us > Deckerbar > What Is A Deckerbar?" page.

Events

The great event is actually two great events.  The first is Norwescon, the largest Science Fiction/Fantasy convention in the Northwest.  This is also a Non-Profit organization that brings writers, publishers, artists, scientists, actors, and fans together for a four day event.

For more information about Norwescon, visit their website at www.norwescon.org.

The other event is the Shockwave - A Decker Bar party.  This is a party covering Friday night and Saturday night of the convention serving our signature Purple Stuff drink, playing 80's New Wave, Goth/Industrial, and Techno music.  This continues to be a favorite event and even has a somewhat cult following with several hundred people visiting over the weekend.

For the first time since we started, Shockwave will also be hosting a Thursday night party.  This will be for members only plus 2 guests.  This is to be held after the membership meeting and will give the members helping out with the party to enjoy the party from the other side of the door, bar or DJ booth.  Come socialize with us, ask questions, have a good time.

There are also other events throughout the year.  We are planning trips to two other area conventions, members' social events such as the previously mentioned party, picnics, game nights and costuming clutches.

Meet New People

Though Shockwave's ranks are small at the moment, we are growing.  Also, the conventions that we attend host several thousand people.  Some of us are gamers, some are IT, some are writers, some artists.  There is a huge chance that whatever you are into, someone in our group or at the events are also into it.

So... What's It Take To Join?

Membership has 2 levels, $100 general membership and $200 Executive membership, and both levels allow you to vote at member's meetings, participate in events, and come with a membership to Norwescon up to the day of the convention  For more information about the differences between the two membership levels, please see the appropriate section of the Articles of Incorporation.

As previously mentioned, you must be 21 or older.  If you are, head over to the "Important Documents > Membership Form > Membership Form", print and fill out the form.  Also take the time to visit Norwescon's membership form at Norwescon Membership Form, print and fill out this form also.  Mail both forms to:

Shockwave
PO Box 855

Include a money order - no checks please - for $100 or $200, depending on desired membership level.
